To preserve all its components, seaweed has to be rinsed immediately and dried at a low temperature within 2 hours from harvesting, or it loses precious properties.
This is the way we deal with our freshly harvested seaweed. The color of our Ascophyllum powder is bright green and healthy!
Traditionally used to feed animals and fertilize the soil, this seaweed has been always harvested in bulk quantities, which is bad for the shore environment.
Moreover, Harvesting Ascophyllum in bulk is impossible to keep the nutritional value intact, as seaweed has to wait days before it is processed, and while waiting, it might get contaminated.
Bulk quantities also need a fast drying process (open fire ovens) which temperatures can be around 400 Celsius degrees. At high temperatures, salt can be transformed into Dioxin.
Because of high-temperature ovens, the bulk processed Ascophyllum powder is dark brown. Part of it is obviously burnt!
